Finally, after much back-and-forthing between the bike shop and Cannondale, and me having to send Cannondale pics of the bike, Cannondale has agreed to pay for the replacement of the bb with something better! So allowing a couple of days for the shop to get the new parts in, I should be able to get everything swapped this weekend. Just in time for rainy season.
