Somewhere on this ball we call "Earth"

"A senior at a Tennessee high school got turned away from her prom when she showed up in a custom-made Confederate flag dress.

Texanna Edwards, 18, of Trenton, Tenn., said she wasn't allowed inside Gibson County High School's prom on Saturday because officials deemed the knee-length red dress trimmed with the stars and bars was "offensive and inappropriate," she told the Tennessean.

The controversial flag is seen as a symbol of slavery-era racism by many, though others believe it stands for the heritage of the South.

"We asked why they thought that, but they kept saying the same thing over and over," Edwards said. "We kept asking people walking inside -- black and white -- and everyone said they loved it. Two black women even went off on the principal. They were upset with the principal. No one was upset with me." (More)

I totally read that as "Tennessee Girl Barred from Porn for Wearing Confederate Flag Dress"

Same difference I suppose.

Wearing a flag is a form of disrespect to it, so maybe she was showing her disdain for the Confederacy.

Also, school officials should learn to not be so easily trolled. Now they're on Fox and feeding the cartoon world of politically correct stereotypes attacking our freedoms that haunt the minds of their audience.

But hey, she stood her ground, right? She was informed months ago that it wasn't a good idea and to get it OK'd, but she didn't. Freedom!

Except I bet if it was a LGBT rainbow dress or a hijab, they wouldn't be whining about freedom and rights to the media.

that's an excellent point. too bad some other kid who "took offense" to the flag dress didn't come in something like that and see how they reacted.

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away

Maybe someone can arrange a prom where one girl wears a confederate flag, one wears a Mexican flag, one dresses in a tuxedo, one wears a hijab, and a guy shows up in drag and another guy shows up dressed as Hitler.
