Somewhere on this ball we call "Earth"

"Super-parents Gil and Kelly Bates love babies so much, they can't stop having them.

The couple, from Tennessee, U.S., celebrated the birth of their 18th child a month ago and are already praying for more.

The Bates look set to become the biggest family in the world one day, and are one baby behind the Duggars of Arkansas, who have 19.

'We will have many more children if God allows it,' said proud dad Gil, 45, a tree surgeon."

'Children are a blessing and God has blessed us many, many times.'

Devoted mum Kelly, 43, said: 'We just love children and every baby brings extra joy to our family. The most exciting time is when a new baby comes.

'We all wonder are the boys going to be ahead, or are the girls going to be ahead?'

The couple married 23 years ago, and Kelly has been pregnant for almost every year.

Their massive brood range includes Zach, 21, Michaela, 20, Erin, 18, Lawson, 17, Nathan, 16, Alyssa, 15, Tori, 14, Trace, 13, Carlin, 12, Josie, 11, Katie, 10, Jackson, 8, Warden, 7, Isaiah, 5, Addallee, 4, Ellie, 3, Callie-Anna, 1, and Judson Wyatt, one month." (More)

Fuck it. That's a great looking family. God bless 'em. They look sweet as hell and the world can use all that it can get.

Here are two things that bug me, presented as a counterpoint, not to start shit:

1) One thing that bugs me about unchecked procreation is that the world has finite resources and unlimited growth is unsustainable. I'm not saying one family is going to tip the scales, but I don't feel I can be very congratulatory to them for not being able to moderate themselves.

2) What if this was a family that couldn't actually provide for all the children like this family does. "Children are a blessing and God has blessed us many, many times" is something they could say too and I bet people wouldn't feel quite so charitable about it.

The more children you have the more the odds one of them is going to be a very fucked up individual. You get into these numbers one of those happy kids is probably winding up a mass murderer.

Well, all the hypothetical shit is just fine, but it seems like they are self sufficient and actually contribute quite a bit to their community. I don't know what race has to do with it.

My opinion would be very different if they was on the welfare. Please don't tell me they're on the welfare.

Maybe they had octadecituplets.

Can't fault someone for being pregnant once.
