First Photograffi contest is now open

We've had three photography contests previously on Mechapixel, all back in fall 2005, but now the contest type is officially supported and will be appearing more frequently.

The first photography graffiti, or "Photograffi", has been set up.

Beat The Heat



This summer has brought near record-breaking temperatures across the United States, and people have been looking for ways to stay cool. The theme of this photography contest is beating the heat, or finding ways to stay cool. Summer is almost over, so grab your camera and show us what your idea of cooling off represents!

Note -- You don't have to include yourself in your photo, just take a shot of something refreshing, like a fountain, pool, macro of an ice cream cone, etc.

Start date is currently Dec 31 this year, but that date will be soon moved up to early September, or whenever the new homepage is finished. Feel free to start taking and entering photos now though, since the theme is after all related to summer.

I'm going to approve a couple more before any go live, and then stagger the contests a bit. Most of the current suggestions in the queue are umm far-east themed, so I'll try to mix it up some.
