Oh man oh man I can't wait for this movie. Probably haven't been this cranked for a movie since fellowship of the ring.

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away

I think the fact that Ridley Scott's directing credits in the Prometheus trailer are Blade Runner and Gladiator are part of the message that "this isn't an Alien prequel", but it certainly looks like one.

Maybe not a direct prequel, but definitely 100% in the same universe as Alien.

I'm guessing the end of the movie is going to show one of the crew left behind, queen bursting out of their chest. This queen then lays all of the eggs that the Nostromo later finds. Maybe even a mention of the Nostromo, Ripley, or Dallas at the end of the movie.

Agree that it might not be a direct prequel, but it is most definitely same universe.

Yup. All signs point to yes.

Probably some kind of prequel/reboot hybrid, otherwise they went to a lot of pointless trouble with all the clues.

I had this on this weekend testing out a new receiver and while it looks and sounds great as a reference movie, all this stuff is pretty right on. Some of it is nitpicky, but still funny.

One thing he didn't point out that bugs the hell out of me is that there is really no character motivation for Idris Elba and crew to suddenly decide that killing themselves is their best course of action. If you're generous, you could say that Elba trusted Shaw enough, but the other two guys are just like "OK sure cap, smash us face first into that ship."

The guy choosing to open the main door for origami-Johnny simply because it was the easiest way to get him in and start killing people... dumb and lazy writing/directing. Scott should have seen from a mile away it was going to be an eye-roller.
