wait just one minute there mister.

OK, so you are saying that an 8/10 feels different/better than a 4/5? Even though they are quantitatively the same thing? Interesting. I think I never thought of it that way because I have never gotten either.

Is getting 4 inches out of 5 the same as getting 8 of 10?

and sorry for the interruption.

I'm totally pleased with all the changes and plans. I'd love for there to be more informal ways to contribute photo shops. I know when the 10-year-olds go on spring break we always get a couple that want to do tennis and they kick open a two years dead thread. But I sort of like the idea of not having pressure to come up with an idea in a given time frame. That, in fact, was always a huge hindrance to me.

Also, I'm done with slags. I don't have the skills or time for them. I'm ready to laugh at and contribute to grafittis though. Voting or no. Don't care.

I know this is a small thing but I liked being able to adjust the size of the shout box, not just to full size, but where you can drag and make it bigger or smaller. Remember that?

Me and repo did an entry when fark had a movie trailer mash up, those are fun. However, u tubz is anal about "copyrights" even though they won in court. They have fingerprint sniffers I have given up on them, everything I post is flagged, 15 seconds of a clip is apparently too much to use.

But......, maybe hosting the files at mediafire and downloading is the best choice, rather than embedded hosting. The audio edits were a pain in the ass because most people at the time had dial up. Even with broadband, I'd still rather download and watch at my convenience.

On social services, I like forums way better than facebook. Just for example, I have a lot of lady friends who have raised the kids and kicked the sperm donor to the curb, and vice versa I suppose. I know one who is on every dating site there is, I fix her computer, can't help but look at mail. I bring up stories like minxy and halah, where everyone is fairly anonymous at fark, and almost all of us came from there to here. I guess my point is, just knowing someone by a nickname tends to be more open and honest. It's really hard to believe that we all have known each other for almost a decade now. I don't know, I like this set up way better than facebook. Now where is that hot chick twiggy again?

If I vote one and keep masturbating, will that lower my balls more on a 10 point scale or 5 point scale.

Speaking of which, did TheSniperZero get restored too?

Looks like it, and unlike the fakes that joined the temp forums last year, it's the real SniperZero that joined in 2004.

I confess, I was the fake theREALsniperzero from the temp forum.

But you have to admit, that furry central .com episode from like 2004 (I can't find any traces of it on the internet anymore) with all the fake real sniperzero's was pretty effin' funny.

... :( Haha. Just to make me sound less stupid (or maybe more stupid.. I do have a tendency to do that) I know that it's quantitatively the same thing. But on a five point scale they could have probably contemplated giving you either 3/5 (6/10) or 4/5 (8/10)... which makes 4/5 seem less meaningful because they might have just figured that a 3/5 or 6/10 was too low so they gave you a 4/5 or 8/10 when really they wanted to give you a 7/10. See what I mean? What, I sound like an idiot? Damn. Oh well.

Dude, the answer is the slider scale. You just slide the bar and it's got 1024 steps between 0 and 10. Plus, it's interactive, intuitive and likely prone to a more honest answer in polls*

I like that idea too, and make the slider go to 100. Then create a "Rotten Tomatoes" % rating for each picture.

And I don't know if this is possible, but I'd like to see some % rating showing how popular the current picture is to your most popular image.

Example: Your best image was rated 9 out of 10. The current one gets a 7 out of 10 (or 70%). You would get a little icon that says "this image is 78% of Jango's best".

I like this idea because sometimes I make a image that I know isn't the best, but I think it's at least half as good as my best. This would give each person a measure of how well they are doing compared to their past work.

That is an interesting idea. Most people might have a best around 8.0, some closer to 9.0 (talking about your Slags and Faceoff entry averages here). So if my best entry was a 8.5, a 7.0 would be 82% of my best. If I got a 5.2, it would be 61% of my best. If my best was a 6.0 and I got a 7.4, then I guess it would be 100% then, setting the new high mark?

Hey there could be grades, relative to your best. You could get an A through F on your entry, based on your best and not a set scale. For example, 82% would be a B-, and 61% a D-. (for example 80-82% is B-, 83-86% is B, 87-89% is B+). To get an A you would need to do about as good as you've ever done, and if you get a new high (the aforementioned 100%) you get an A+!

Uuugggggggghhh report cards.

It's a neat idea and I hope I'm not taking it too far from what Jango proposed, but hell there could be two results windows: normal voting placings, and then grades which are shown as well. Like an honor roll, which displays how well people did compared to.......themselves.

Hey now you're onto something. It could work like golf handicaps. You don't gotta beat the best, you're trying to do better than usual. This may also encourage more liberal use of high ratings as people try to jack up other people's score and screw up their handicap for upcoming contests.

for more opportunity to manipulate!

I'd love to have the full compliment of the old emoticons back. I believe there are a fair # of new one's now, that didn't exist in the old list though. Can the full list of old one's be brought back, without loosing the new?

Yes, please.

The fistpump ones, and that cringing one with the bead of sweat always seemed to get good use. :embarrassed: is useful at times too. I know I've had to use it a time or two.

Does the thingy that lists the ten most recent posts auto-refresh? If not, could it be made to? I generally use Opera for my Mecha surfing, and you can set it to refresh, I was just thinking about folks who use different browsers.

Would that put too much of a load on the server?

The lightbox feature seems to have a suckiness effect on any photo threads, as it automagically shrinkifies all posted pics in the thread -- thereby diminishing the impact and experience of that thread.

Now, that'd be a good thing if (random assholes) were uploading 10000 x 4000 pics but having 800x600 pics shrinkified and having to be clicked on kind of sucks.

Also, yes please on the emoticons. But only if we get to keep pee bottle when we bring back the old ones.

...see how all the entries are shrinkidink'ed? And you have to click to view the original? That.

ETA: Of course you can select "keep original size" in the options, but many (most) people, I would venture, don't ever even delve that deep into their user options.
