New trailer for GTA V

It looks like the game will feature three separate protagonists (possible co-op play) and the game world is, according to Rockstar:

Quote:
the game world will be bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA IV's worlds combined. It even includes a fully explorable ocean floor.
Sounds like it might be the mother of all sandbox games.

OK that looks like fun. Never played any of the other GTA's but I bet you could jump into this one on the ground floor and be fine.

Yeah, these games all stand on their own with no real ties between them, so you wouldn't be missing anything.

Aw man it'd be nice to see this ported to PC for lamers like me that don't have a console setup of any kind.

That's ok, I'm sure the game will be just as fun a year or so from now when I've upgraded my CRT television and got a next gen console (hell, that could be a while really since it's pretty down low on my priorities right now).

But anyway, yeah, massive cool looking gameplay. Fucking dickshitter FC3 Blood Dragon PC port still has me yelling at clouds on Valve and Uplay. My gaming -- other than a slow re-play of BSI that goes weeks between plays -- has been strategy stuff, like Rise of Nations (yeah I know the game's old, but a good game is a good game, dammit).

I'll stop short of highjacking the thread, but I'm really looking forward to that Wasteland 2 sequel. That's good 'ol PC gaming. GTA 5 is the stuff of consoles.

I'll continue the threadjack here... Playing Metro Last Light now. it is awesome. finished Metro 2033 a couple days ago and moved on to the sequel which repo hooked me up with. it is really good. Much more polished than 2033.

On topic, I have never been a GTA guy. never played more than a couple minutes of any of them.

The one night this video was recorded when we had a number of people from Mecha playing multiplayer was almost worth the price of the whole game:

I didn't actually play much of the multiplayer after that, either.

So I decided to go ahead and get it. Just ordered it from Amazon so I'll probably get it by the end of the week. I used my Discover cash back so it didn't cost me any "real" money which is nice. Maybe once I've gotten to play it for a while I'll sign up for Gold again and we can multiplay. I don't remember if I've given you my gamertag: FulanoDeTal01. Who else is in?

I bought it too. My first GTA game purchase. The IGN review is off the charts. I should have it tomorrow with launch day delivery from amazon, so I will be playing tomorrow night.

It looks like Multiplayer won't be available until October 1st so they're giving us time to learn the game a bit I guess.

Played for about an hour and a half last night. Very entertaining. I was enjoying the combat quite a bit, which I think has not always been the case for GTA games. I only did the initial Franklin mission, and then the mission where you have to repo the motorcycle for Simeon and it goes bad. I think i heard Franklin and Lamar use the word "nigga" like possibly 200 times in a half an hour.

Edit: oh and I sat on my couch, got high and watched cartoons.

Edit 2: In the game.

I kept getting distracted by shiny things. Like the road bike that passed me while I was in a car on its last legs. I had to jack an 18-wheeler to chase him down but he lost me after I flipped the truck. Guy in spandex on a road bike escapes a big rig hunting him down.

Driving and combat are both the best they've ever been, I think.

The level of detail is amazing. I also like the digs at Call of Duty ("Righteous Slaughter, rated PG, pretty much the same as the last game"). The dialogue of the kid playing it is great.

edit: Also, friend request sent to FDT

Example of getting distracted:

I'd say we could re-enact T2 or Grease in multiplayer should we feel inclined.

Seeing as you can customize your cars, I think it's guaranteed someone's going to create something that looks like the White Lightning and make a video.

The perfectionist and achievement seeker in me is wary of the new mission challenges mechanic. It may drive me crazy.

However, I love the new free aim setting for weapons.

Having been to LA a few times, I love driving around the city and seeing things that almost look like the real thing. They did a good job with the feel of the city from Venice Beach, the Santa Monica Pier, and even the 405.

This game is just retardedly huge. I decided to head out of town to check out the countryside, and man it took me a long time to drive up to the top of the map. Up there I got roughed up pretty good too. One particular sequence involved me beating up a meth head living in a shack on the side of the road only to then be killed by the meth head's dog. Didnt help that my health was low because I had just gotten hit by a truck. Tough to outrun cops up in the desert too. Nowhere to hide. And I am not sure I quite understand the "evade the cops" mechanic yet. In town I just drive around really fast for a while until the stars go away. Not sure if there is a more scientific way to do that.

I ran down an alley and hid behind a garbage can.

If you're not in their cone of vision (as shown on the map) I think the wanted level starts to go down when the stars start to blink.

I picked it up yesterday. I can't wait to bust caps in you fools.

Last night, I tried to steal a 747. It was at the gate with another plane at the gate behind it. The scene was a lot like the Austin powers "car in hallway" scene until the cops shot it enough to disable it.

I will fly... someday.
