I'll be working from home some now and I'll need a new laptop as the one I have now is on its last leg. I'll be remoting into my work pc and using ArcMap and Office products mostly but I don't know if that matters on the laptop or the internet connection more. Right now I can do pretty good as long as I'm not working on anything too complicated.

Anyway, I'd like to be able to play some of the newer games maybe or even my old Sims2 but I don't have to. I know that if I really want to do that I'd be better off getting a desktop and that just isn't an option right now. I need to be able to move from room to room depending on where Gabby wants to play. I've done some research and of course all that did was confuse me more. I have in mind that I'd like to spend less than $400 but I don't think that's going to be possible for what I want. Where I get confused is in the processor. I know I want Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, 4 gigs or RAM, 300 gig HD at 7200 RPM, 15 in. screen, or more on all of those.

Okay, so I found these on sale. Which would be the best one to get or do you know of a better one? I can buy on line or in store but I'd like to get it within a week if possible.

HP at Office Depot

HP at Office Max

HP at Fry's the specs

MSI at Fry's the specs

I'm not picky on brand as long as it will last.

PS. I apologize for getting your hopes up, but I have nothing to add to this conversation.

I don't know if you got anything yet, but the back to school sales are starting and laptops are always on sale, if you can wait. I've never cared much for hp stuff, it could be just that everyone that owns one seems to fuck it up. The lenovo's have always had a real good reputation. We've not had a lick of trouble with our dell in 4 years. I always check here when shopping for computers.

newegg is your friend. A lot of people participate in the feedback and you can search by price and by ratings.

Also, what D-hum said.

Bought this one, which on Friday was $10 more!

Yes, have to agree, Newegg is my friend. I've bought from them before. Free shipping and no tax made it a better deal than the local one that was cheaper but wasn't as powerful.

Now, I just wonder if I can get them to price match the lower price???

Thanks guys!
