Oh no Facebook took over Aarkie!

But, yeah, that looks like a straight-up legit prep of that as far as modern day is concerned.

I always tend to pass on the general's at the takeouts for unbreaded options but I really really want to sit down to that done right.

I'm going to try that exact recipe in the air fryer. Yeah I got one of those. I don't care, I love it.

So what's your review? Do things actually come out "fried" or is it just crisp like in a toaster oven?
I've been interested in one of those... I kinda care

I always like frying, but I haven't done it in a while, maybe I should do some soon.

It doesn't fry as well as regular frying but also food isn't sitting in a big pan of grease.

Agreed... more "fried" than a toaster oven, and fast. I've been documenting with photos, so here are some:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/oBrxDspUZtof9oPD7

The first thing is a pork burger stuffed with cheese that was supposed to be pan fried. It turned into this amazing fried burger in the fryer. No oil. I love the thing. If you're not making a lot, it's so much faster than the oven.

Everything in the photos was cooked only using the air fryer except the ribs which were crockpot to cook and then crisped up with the fryer for a few minutes. Potatoes to crispy fries in 20 minutes, 10 mins at 375 then toss, then 10 more minutes. The chicken breasts were coated with yogurt and panko and man did they get crispy. The chicken wings were coated in corn starch and the fat from the skin made it crispy.

It really cuts down on cook times for a lot of things and it's nice to just load it up and let it time itself. I highly recommend them, they do more than just "fry" and the amount of oil you don't need to use is nice.

Oh, and I don't know why I didn't take a picture, but I was making chili dogs over the weekend and decided to wrap the dogs with a slice of bacon and fry it... like 10 minutes at 350, no turning, and they came out perfectly. Bacon was totally crispy around the fully cooked dogs. That was like magic.

Dang, looks like it does a nice job. No way I could feed my family with it though... 3 teenage boys.

I have to admit that a primary reason for the photos was to send to my mom who was skeptical it was something that wouldn't wind up in the back of a cabinet, unused after the initial fun wore off.

And yeah, Noc you'd need one each for each teenager and then one for you and your wife. And probably a whole separate electrical panel for your kitchen

But yeah, it does make some tasty stuff really easily! I'm a fan.

Late to the Food Porn here, but, yeah, I'm also a fan of the air fryer. Probably haven't been as prolific as Repo, but I've done quite a few things in it, and it really does a great job. I bought a 4.8 pound chicken yesterday, and put a Rotisserie rub (took the easy way out) on it tonight. Pretty happy with the result.

Nice! That looks tasty.

My first meh over the weekend was grilled cheese. Spray each side of sandwich with cooking spray, 5 minutes at 350, flip, 3 more minutes. Sounded too good to be true, it was. They were OK, cheese was melty but the bread was more like dry toast. I may try again by slathering each side with mayo instead of Pam. 8 minutes total to get a good grilled cheese would be nice.

I would say that the grilled cheese maybe doesn't need to be reinvented? What does the air fryer do for you that is better. Is it less caloric because you aren't putting butter on the bread?(just curious) You can do a quality grilled cheese on the stove in 8 minutes cant you?

It's fire and forget with the air fryer where the stove requires attention. So for that it'd be purely about the convenience not necessarily a better (or healthier) end product. If it was somehow better, healthier, and more convenient, that would be the ultimate goal, but yeah, I don't think it's going to happen with an air fryer.

yeah, why fool with a good thing? And why have a grilled cheese if you're not going to slather it with butter? I made some this weekend at the in-laws house, they have an electric stove, I have a gas stove. Thought the first side was taking too long, so I turned up the heat... burnt. I forgot how to cook on electric.
