Yes, it is a Puddin’ Pop Music Quiz, once again. I figured with Labor Day coming I should put something together, for old time’s sake. Let’s see if I remember how it’s done…

Ah yeah, this is how it’s done. It starts with a banner…

And then a medley. There were dozens of choices for this one, I recorded almost 50 clips and kept cutting it down until I got to 30, with most of them being 6-7 seconds long. So the full length is a fairly reasonable 3:40. All of these clips reference some form of occupation, reputable or not. We are not to judge. And I don’t think I included a “judge” clip, either. So get your scoring card ready and give it a whirl…

Here’s the answer sheet:
1) A Well Respected Man - Kinks
2) Synchronicity II - Police
3) Taxi - Harry Chapin
4) She Came In Through The Bathroom Window - Beatles
5) Takin' Care Of Business - Bachman-Turner Overdrive
6) Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
7) Them From Shaft - Isaac Hayes
8) Operator - Jim Croce
9) Ice Cream Man - Van Halen
10) Tangled Up In Blue - Bob Dylan
11) I Say A Little Prayer - Aretha Franklin
12) Dirty Laundry - Don Henley
13) Dazed And Confused - Led Zeppelin
14) Workin' For A Livin' - Huey Lewis & The News
15) Return To Sender - Elvis Presley
16) Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers
17) Car Wash - Rose Royce
18) Fast Car - Tracy Chapman
19) The Spirit Of Radio - Rush
20) The Fire Down Below - Bob Seger
21) Living For The City - Stevie Wonder
22) Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival
23) China Grove - Doobie Brothers
24) The Boxer - Simon & Garfunkel
25) That's Life - Frank Sinatra
26) Gold - John Stewart
27) Your Song - Elton John
28) Papa Was A Rolling Stone - Temptations
29) Manic Monday - Bangles
30) My Name Is Jonas – Weezer
Let’s go over to the judge’s table and see how you did. Wait, there are no judges, I forgot…

Lots of classic rock/oldies in this one, and a surprising amount of folky songs I pulled up (Dylan, Chapin, Chapman, John Stewart (a one-time Kingston Trio-er), Simon & Garfunkel), although I suppose that shouldn’t be surprising. Some stuff I nixed: “If I Were a Carpenter” (the Bobby Darin version), “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, “Watching The Detectives”, “Missionary Man”, “Summertime Blues”, “The Scientist”, “Allentown”, “Wichita Lineman”, “Working In a Coalmine” (the Devo version, for a change), and a handful of others. But it was fun, as usual, even if a lot of work. Hey, enough about work! It’s a holiday for us workers. Everyone have a good one...

27 right! I may not always be good at these but this time it was like it was custom made for what I have listened to over the years.

Dagnabit I'm Bridget friggin' Fonda with 15 right.

Haven't heard #26 in years. That brought back some memories.

I recognized almost all the others, but I suck at remembering song titles, and artists.

23, but I haven't finished my coffee yet, so that's pretty respectable.

I always give myself ˝ points for getting artist but not title, or vice versa and with some help from my office-mate, I/we got 20˝. It's very 70s-centric so I recognize most of them but not well enough to know both song and title. I'm too young

Peaceboy, you rock, thanks for bringing back the quiz!!

22. Not too bad. Didn't get the Rush one but knew what it was, couldn't think of Taxi and the Weezer song. Still, respectable!

Not me. I only have room for one song in my head, and thanks to the new sensation, Ved and the Mechatones, that song is this:

Awesome list!

I'm going to go with 22 artists known. Song titles... not so good.

I totally missed 8,11,17,20,23,25, and 26. I totally could not remember Bob Seger's name despite that song being burned into my brain.

Oh, and Deep in the Heart of Mecha
