Japanese boys wear Kabuki make-up before putting on wigs for their performance at the Edo Tokyo Museum. Nearly one hundred children between the ages of six and 10 went through three months of practice to master the traditional thespian art. Kabuki, a traditional Japanese play that originated in the 17th century, has become somewhat of an elite entertainment in Japan, but amateur performers such as with these children seek to bring the mass appeal it once had over a hundred years ago.
