We've all gotten those shots that, had we not been behind the viewfinder, we would find it difficult to identify the subject.
In this contest, challenge your MechaBrethren to name that animal, vegetable, mineral or part thereof. For example, see the mysterious closeup of whatever that is over on the left. Oh, and feel free to give a hint in your title.
As with all photography contests, macro lenses and clever cropping is permitted, but no photoshops. You can make minor adjustments to your photo using an image editing program, such as altering the overall brightness, contrast, or tint. You may not alter a specific part of your photo, use any filters, or sharpen/blur anything, etc.
Sitting on the end of a dock at a lake. The sun is just setting. Along comes a swarm (it may have been a horde) of those tiny gnat-like bugs that make the fish jump a foot out of the water and the bats fat and lazy.
Camera set on "auto," I held it out, pointing up, into the cloud of bugs and snapped, and the flash went off. Somehow they cast shadows of themselves on the atmosphere, against the last glimmers of the sunset. Took me a few minutes to figure out what the heck it was when I downloaded days later, and I was inspired to submit this theme. :)
(The next shot, without the flash, was very different yet just as wacky; they appeared almost self-illuminating.)
